Map My Heritage has been set up to establish a digital
repository of our cultural resources especially unprotected ones, documenting
heritage assets, traditional knowledge & skills with people's participation
in the changing context. Aim is to take discussion on preservation &
development across to a larger audience providing an opportunity for all to
contribute, explore & co-create.
This platform is part of Indian Heritage Hub an initiative
of Centre for Advancement of
Traditional Building Technology and Skills (CATTS) encouraging
people to develop awareness & understanding of their cultural context
creating a community interested in heritage.
The initiative stresses upon accessibility
& sharing of information and aspires to:
oDocument for posterity cultural heritage related
information through a multidisciplinary approach
oProvide recognition to local cultural heritage,
highlighting creativity at the grassroots
oProvide an opportunity to people to highlight issues and
potentials with regards cultural heritage
oPromote a community based participatory approach to
building a repository
oSharing of information amongst people with easy
accessibility to cultural heritage related information in the public
domain
We are seeking participation from people
to collectively build this database. This is a mammoth task indeed!
However we believe that through collective effort we can create a corpus of
information on cultural heritage that can be shared easily for the enrichment
of all. We are looking forward to active involvement of all who share our
vision.
